lyrics

I can't get you out under my front door
I can't build this house without leaving for sure
Mama's boys are pulling strings
as tykes just roll on by.
Heaven's gates are open wide
inside them millions cry.

I can't do without so you can't give in
Don't you trust that doubt,
you don't know where it's been.
Pretty fingers, monster claws,
and kites with broken wings;
back home there's an audience
all waiting to get in.

Be still and whole forever, my soul
don't put your knee down if you can.
No matter how I try
this won't end up alright.
Just promise we'll get through it soon

Now you're setting out and you're moving on
What's this all about and
where have you gone?
Rabbit feet and bouncing cars
and frozen blades of grass...
I'll write it all down for you
to see if it lasts.

Still not twenty five, got the rest of my life
I'll need it if you're gonna come home
Now I'm forty five and there's no reason why
I can't get what you want for me now
